6 Crazy Sports Towns

6 Crazy Sports Towns

Nothing brings a community together like a sports team to root for and rival teams to despise. There’s not much more invigorating than coming together for a common cause, winning - or in the case of Cleveland, mediocrity. But where does this geographic bandwagoning occur most and at the most passionate level? Here are a few cities with the most passionate fans.

Boston

If you’re going to be in the area, throw on a Boston tie and see how many friends you’ve made by the end of the day. Even if the Red Sox were the only sports team in town, Boston would still be one of the most passionate on the list. But then you throw in the Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots and it’s easy to see how Bostonians love turning out for their teams that win, win, and win some more.

Chicago

The Bears, Bull, White Sox, and Cubs have all had their time in the limelight. The Blackhawks have had enduring success. The Cubs just won the World Series, after a century of, well, definitely not winning the World Series. Needless to say, Chicago fans are pretty happy with their teams and they won’t let you forget it.

Seattle

Firstly, their soccer team, the Sounders, are nearly European aka amazing. And the fans are as enthusiastic as the team is good. Secondly, the Seattle Seahawks have arguably the best local fanbase in the NFL. How can you tell? They’re loud. Very loud.

New York

If there’s one thing New York fans are it’s loyal. Regardless of their team’s standing, you can always count on a great turnout. New York is uniquely polarized because they have two teams in nearly every sport, pitting New Yorkers against each other. Whether it’s the Knicks or the Nets, Giants or the Jets, Mets or the Yankees, when deciding where their loyalties lie New Yorkers don’t have it easy.

Cleveland

Years of disappointment courtesy of the Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers have provided this city with a bonding opportunity. They’ve come together in collective heartbreak and offer each other metaphorical shoulders to cry on. Their long-suffering finally paid off in 2016 when their basketball team won an NBA title.

Green Bay

Green Bay fans own their football team. Can you get more loyal than that? Green Bay is the smallest home city of any NFL team and the Packers are the only professional team in town. Green Bay revolves around the football team and so do the lives of their fans.

It’s safe to say that in the U.S., we love our sports teams. But some cities take their love to new levels. Whether or not those levels are healthy, we’ll let you be the judge. The next time you’re in one of these crazy towns go to a game, wear your favorite Chicago, Seattle, New York, Cleveland, Green Bay, or Boston tie. If you don’t have one, visit Eagles Wings. We have everything you need to blend in with the local fans.
